Jeet Kune do is a fighting system developed by Bruce Lee, (some argue he was the first true mixed martial artist who combined classical boxing/kickboxing with jiu-jitsu-style submission wrestling. Wing Chun is a traditional Chinese style of martial arts that has been developed over 400 years ago, and was Bruce Lee’s original style until he developed his flowing free-form fighting system. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) style of submission grappling was first developed in Japan and then expanded upon in Brazil. Jiu-Jitsu is called, “the gentle fighting art” because once you become proficient in Jiu-Jitsu, you become so relaxed when you apply many submission moves. Jiu-Jitsu has some comparisons to Classical Olympic Judo (soft way) for your ability to relax and flow with the forces your opponent tries to use on you. Our system of self defense at Main Street Martial Arts does not depend on whether or not you have some previous boxing training. With the system of martial arts DiManni Sempai will train you with, you can use and incorporate what you have from other true fighting systems and improve upon them. DiManni Sempai will also help you to improve your coordination and stamina with the time-proven methods of the ancient martial arts as well as modern sport group-exercise methodology. As you train in this program your hand/eye coordination will improve and your endurance will be greatly enhanced. You will be able to use your skills to become more competitive in sports, grappling tournaments, MMA, school, work, or everyday life challenges, in general. You will also have a much greater knowledge of how to defend yourself should you ever need to. “You can learn submission grappling skills that will not only enable you to defend yourself but also to compete in local submission grappling events if you chose too. BJJ submission wrestling is fun to learn and a great way to stay in shape. Martial arts have helped me to reduce my stress and develop a stronger, healthier (younger!) body. My class is open for serious beginners and their families ages 12 and up who are interested in learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Jeet Kune Do, and Wing Chun combined into one complete martial arts system.” - Kevin L.
